The Environment Fund Administration (AFM) in Romania has submitted a funding request for the implementation of the Integrated Environmental Information System (SIIAFM), a project that shall be financed through the Operational Programme for Smart Growth, Digitalisation, and Financial Instruments (POCIDIF) 2021-2027, the institution informs on Friday.
The estimated total value of the project exceeds 142 million RON (approximately 28 million Euro), with an estimated implementation duration of 24 months from the signing of the contract. By submitting the funding request, the AFM aims to secure non-refundable European funds through the POCIDIF 2021-2027 - Priority 2 "Digitalisation in central public administration and the business environment."
The implementation of the SIIAFM will enable the complete digital transformation of the AFM by automating internal processes and the services provided to citizens, companies, and public institutions.
The project aims to integrate all of the institution's activities into a unified information system: from managing funding requests to operating fiscal obligations, monitoring projects, risk control and the relation with taxpayers. At the same time, the AFM would benefit from a modern, scalable, and secure IT infrastructure, compatible with the latest European standards regarding cybersecurity, interoperability and digital accessibility.
Through this project, the AFM aims to significantly reduce bureaucracy, increase the speed of processing requests, and improve decision-making quality by using some modern analysis and reporting tools. Moreover, as a result of implementing the digitalisation project, a mobile application is to be developed to allow easy access to beneficiaries to information and services provided, while communication with the institution shall be exclusively digital, with secure authentication and electronic signature.
