Romanian tennis player Gabriela Ruse on Tuesday advanced to the women's singles main draw of the China Open WTA 1,000 tournament in Beijing, prize pool USD 8,955,610, after defeating Chinese Jia-Jing Lu 6-3 6-1, in the last round of qualifiers, informs Agerpres.
Ruse, 26, world number 93, won in 68 minutes, in which her opponent failed to create any break point.
Ruse and Lu had met only once before: in 2021, in Montpellier (W60), with the Romanian winning 6-4 6-2 in the first round.
For her performance so far in Beijing, Ruse won USD 23,250 and 40 WTA singles points.
There are three more Romanians on the singles main draw: Jaqueline Cristian (who in the first round will play Hungarian Anna Bondar), Irina Begu (who will play Chinese Ye-Xin Ma) and Ana Bogdan (who will play US Sofia Kenin).
