Royal Family visits Romanian specialists employed at European Chemicals Agency in Helsinki

The Custodian of the Romanian Crown, Her Majesty Margareta, and His Royal Highness Prince Radu visited, on Tuesday, the 15 Romanian specialists employed at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in Helsinki, Finland, on which occasion they emphasized that the expertise and competence of Romanians are respected in Europe.

 

They also showed that although it can be considered dangerous that one out of three Romanians is outside the country, this reality also represents a solid bridge between Romania and the countries of the European Union.

On the occasion of the visit to this European institution, the representatives of the Royal House held discussions with ECHA members on topics regarding the impact of chemical substances on health and the environment, as well as the problems faced by the EU in terms of regulating these areas.

"I found some very warm personalities and very eager to know more about the Romanians. The discussion was technical, but at the same time touching on problems particularly related to Romania and how Romania relates to the EU institutions," said Ofelia Bercaru, director in the ECHA.

She added that she has reached a career of more than 20 years in EU institutions. According to her, the Romanian colleagues from ECHA in Helsinki work in various activities, such as IT, human resources, chemists who work with the characterization of substances.

She showed that in the last period she worked on restricting the use of substances such as fluorides and bisphenol in the products that European consumers buy.

At the end of the visit to ECHA, Her Majesty Margareta and Prince Radu were invited to sign the Book of Honor.

The official delegation also included the Romanian ambassador to Finland, Maria Ligor, the director Adrian Ligor from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Brigadier General Iulian Daniliuc from the General Staff of Defense and Traian Sarca, the chancellor of the Royal House.

On Tuesday, the representatives of the Royal House also met with the President of the Finnish Parliament, Jussi Halla-aho. Ambassador Maria Ligor and Jonathan Eyal, member of the Royal Council, were present at the meeting.

At the Helsinki Parliament, the Custodian of the Romanian Crown and Prince Radu met with the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Kimmo Kiljunen, and with foreign policy experts of the Finnish Legislature.

The members of the Royal House also visited the Chamber of Commerce of Finland, where discussions were held on the development projects implemented by different companies in Romania.
