Salvamont: 111 people rescued from the mountains in the past 24 hours; nearly 50 taken to hospital

More than 110 people were rescued from the mountains over the past 24 hours by mountain rescue teams, with 48 of them transported to hospital by ambulance.

"In the last 24 hours, the National Mountain Rescue Dispatch received 103 calls requesting the emergency intervention of mountain rescuers. (...) As a result of these operations, 111 people were rescued. Of these, 48 were transported to hospital by SAJ, SMURD or Salvamont ambulances; the remainder agreed to be taken by the vehicles of relatives," Salvamont Romania announced on its Facebook page on Tuesday morning.

According to the cited source, the highest number of calls were received by Salvamont Lupeni (22), Salvamont Brasov County (18), Salvamont Brasov Municipality (14), Gorj (12) and Sinaia (10).

A further 34 calls were received requesting advice and information about various tourist routes in the mountain areas.
