More than 70 people were rescued from the mountains by mountain rescuers over the past 24 hours, with the highest number of interventions recorded in Maramures.
According to Mountain Rescue Service Salvamont Romania, 24 people were taken to hospital by ambulance.
"In the past 24 hours, the Salvamont National Dispatch Centre received 68 calls requesting the emergency intervention of mountain rescue teams. (...) As a result of these interventions, 72 people were rescued. Of these, 24 were transported to hospital by SAJ, SMURD or Salvamont ambulances, while the others were given permission to be taken in vehicles belonging to relatives," Salvamont Romania said on its Facebook page on Thursday.
The highest number of calls concerned mountain rescue teams in Maramures (12), Brasov (11), Harghita (7), Lupeni (6) and Sibiu (5).
In addition, 51 calls were received requesting advice and information about various tourist trails in mountainous areas.
