Senator Gheorghe Vela of the Romanian People's Party (POT) declared on Monday that the Minister of Education, Daniel David, has directly affected teachers, pupils and students through the way he has led the ministry, noting that many teachers have "lost their livelihood", inform Agerpres.
"There are three problems regarding three categories of subjects that the minister of education has directly affected through the way he has led the Ministry of Education and Research. The first: teachers. Since he has been in his second term, especially, many have lost their livelihood and especially their bonuses due to difficult conditions for practicing the profession. Let's not hide this. They are the first affected. That is why they took to the streets during the summer holidays in their thousands and protested", Vela stated.
He mentioned that children, pupils and students, are also affected. "Many children will only be able to walk very long distances to school, those from Transylvania, from isolated villages, because the minibuses cannot reach them on the clogged roads and the Ministry of Education has done nothing for them. Students' scholarships have been cut, and you do not have any program for the reintegration of young people," Vela added.
On Monday, the Senate rejected the simple motion on education initiated by AUR.
