The Senate adopted on Monday the legislative proposal establishing the Institute for the Support of the EU Integration of the Republic of Moldova, during the accession negotiations.

According to the bill, initiated by a group of PNL parliamentarians, it is an autonomous administrative institution with legal personality, its role being to provide technical assistance to public institutions and authorities in the Republic of Moldova.

The annual reports of the institute will be sent for information to the two chambers of the Parliament. Management is ensured by a council formed by the president of the institute, with the rank of secretary of state, and the vice president, with the rank of undersecretary of state. The mandates of the two are for four years and can be renewed only once. The president and vice-president are appointed and revoked by the vote of the majority of deputies and senators, gathered in a joint session of the two chambers of the Parliament, at the proposal of the parliamentary groups", the draft normative act reads.

The legislative proposal will be debated by the Chamber of Deputies, the decision-making body in this case.
