Day of Firefighters

1602 - Battles of Ogretin and Teiusani. Radu Serban, Wallachia's ruler (1602-1611) defeated the coalition armies of Simion Movila and the Tatar khan. During the battle, boyar Stroe Buzescu challenged the khan's brother-in-law to a fight and killed him. Stroe Buzescu was wounded and died on October 2.

1848 - The Dealu Spirii Battle between firefighters commanded by Lieutenant Pavel Zaganescu and Ottoman troops commanded by Pascha Fuad

1872 - The North Railway Station of Bucharest was officially opened, called the Targovistei's Station until 1888, at the same time with the commissioning of the Roman-Galati-Bucharest-Pitesti railway road, the construction of which had started in 1869

1904 - Birth of prose writer Elvira Bogdan (Maria Moldoveanu) (d. 3 May, 1987)
