The simple motion against the Minister of Justice, Radu Marinescu, was rejected on Monday in the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies.
There were 95 votes "for", 153 votes "against" and three abstentions.
The motion was submitted by the AUR deputies.
Minister Radu Marinescu stated, in the plenary session of the Chamber, that any lucid, objective, rational analysis of justice must start from concrete data and facts and not from simple allegations.
"Romania is a democratic, European country, a state of law, and justice has evolved and consolidated along with and within the rule of law. Any lucid, objective, rational analysis of justice must start from concrete data and facts and not from simple allegations, taking into account both the progress and the still existing problems, problems that must be resolved without delay. Any reform of justice, legislative or merely administrative, must be carried out on the basis of full and objective assessments in order to be in the interest of making justice more efficient and consolidating the rule of law," Radu Marinescu said.
He added that the judiciary in Romania is independent and self-governing.
Justice Minister Radu Marinescu was supported on Monday, during the debates on the simple motion submitted by AUR and at "Government Hour", by colleagues from the governing coalition, explicitly by representatives of PSD and UDMR, while being criticized by those from USR, even if they did not support the motion by vote.
