The first voyage of the cruise ship in the Danube Delta will most likely take place in March, although it was originally scheduled to depart on the arm of Sfantu Gheorghe [St. George] of the Danube on Thursday, the decision being made due to tensions in Ukraine.

The ship's administrator, Marius Crivtonencu, told AGERPRES that tourists who had bought a ticket for the Valentine's Day cruise had agreed to postpone the trip.

"In March and April, we will navigate on the arms of Sulina and Sfantu Gheorghe. We will spend the Easter holidays on the arm of Sulina, and the novelty of this year will be the collaboration with Serbia and Croatia. In May, we will launch the cruise to Serbia and Croatia, mentioning that Novisad is the European cultural capital city this year," said Crivtonencu, Agerpres.ro informs.

In March 2021, the cruise ship destined exclusively for the Danube Delta was launched in the presence of the environment minister. Initially, the ship was intended exclusively for Romanian tourists who wanted to see the Danube Delta, then the packages offered expanded with trips to Ukraine, and in the latter part of last year, through the same company, Ukrainian tourists were able to visit the Danube Delta, Prahova Valley and Bucharest.

"The first year was good, with a nice increase in tourist interest, and at the end of the year the ship was loaded to full capacity on New Year's Eve. (...) It is a turning point in this direction, due to the situation created Ukraine and we are adapting with new solutions," Crivtonencu added.

Some tour operators in the Delta claim that in 2014, in the context of the situation in Ukraine, about 75% of tourists from abroad gave up their holiday in the reservation, due to insurance contracts that do not cover them if the country visited is neighboring one in conflict.
