The interim chairman of the Social Democrats, Sorin Grindeanu, declared on Thursday that all scenarios are still on the table regarding the composition of the future government - from a PSD prime minister to going into opposition - but he specified that the Social Democrats will discuss these matters after reaching an agreement with the other parties on the economic measures to be taken.
"I believe that the commission established on these fiscal measures will reach a conclusion and present different scenarios to political decision-makers. Let's wait for the conclusions of the most important commission, until the end, and I'll make a few more clarifications: nothing else of what the PSD strategy means from now on can be discussed until we reach an agreement on these measures. So all the issues related to ministers, prime ministers, portfolios and so on are not discussed until we reach an agreement, which is normal, on these measures. All the scenarios that are being discussed these days or any discussions that have been given by sources as having taken place related to government configurations are false," said Grindeanu, in Parliament.
He was asked if there was a deadlock in negotiations with the other parties regarding the post of prime minister and the person who would occupy this position.
"There is no blockage. Nothing has changed compared to what we announced a week ago, absolutely nothing has changed. We said the same thing then and I'm telling you the same thing today. We are primarily interested in things related to the government program, fiscal measures, protecting Romanians, seeing what is desired to be done in the coming period. If the measures that we have proposed and the measures of the other political forces, with those measures, we reach a conclusion, yes, we will take the next steps. Obviously, at this moment, all scenarios are still on the table. If I speak on behalf of the PSD, from the PSD prime minister to going into opposition. But we will discuss these things if we overcome the first step, the one related to economic measures and an agreement on these measures," he concluded.
