President Klaus Iohannis wants a climate of stability on the political stages, presidential spokesperson Madalina Dobrovolschi said on Tuesday.
"The President wants things to lead to a climate of stability, because the Romanian citizens are at the centre of preoccupations and they have to feel that things are headed in the right direction. Political fights belong elsewhere and therefore I do not want to get bogged down in further talks and speculations," Dobrovolschi told a news conference at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace when asked for the President's opinion on the latest developments in the local political stages, given that the National Liberal Party (PNL) announced it would table a censure motion.
PNL will table a censure motion against the government, and the party on Tuesday starts negotiations with all parliamentary parties, with the exception of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in support of this move, PNL national leader Ludovic Orban announced on Monday.
"PNL unanimously decided at the meeting of its Executive Bureau, together with the parliamentary groups, to table a motion of censure against the Dragnea-Tudose PSD Government. The decision is a response to the ordinance that has troubled the Romanian tax system, which threatens the economic development of Romania, which creates chaos in all areas, which is an attack at the business environment and employees, both in the private and public sectors, along with the dramatic worsening of all economic indicators," said Orban.
