The state collected more than 32 million euros in November following the auctioning of EU greenhouse gas emission certificates for stationary installations and aviation sector, according to a document posted on the website of the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP).
Last year, the state collected about 195 million euros, including here also the sums from aviation sector.
According to the Ministry of Public Finance, the EU Emission Trading Scheme (EU ETS) was first applied in the first phase for the period January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2007, and the second phase of the scheme is taking place between 2008 and 2012, corresponding to the first commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol.
Romania has been participating in the European Union scheme for greenhouse gas emissions trading since the date of its accession to the European Union (January 1, 2007).
The third stage of the EU ETS scheme lasts eight years, from January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2020.
