Students and staff of Dimitrie Bolintineanu High School were safely evacuated following an explosion on Friday morning in Sector 5, in line with emergency procedures, the Bucharest School Inspectorate (ISMB) reported.
Students who "sustained minor injuries" received medical care at the school and were later collected by their parents.
"Today, 17 October 2025, following a potential risk generated by an explosion at a nearby block close to Dimitrie Bolintineanu Theoretical High School in Bucharest, the school building was evacuated as a precaution, on the recommendation of the competent authorities. The evacuation was carried out due to the risk of further explosion, following the advice of the intervention teams from ISU Bucharest-Ilfov present on site. Students and school staff were safely evacuated according to emergency procedures. Students with minor injuries received medical attention at the school and were subsequently taken by their parents. Authorities - ISU Bucharest-Ilfov, the Bucharest Police, and representatives of ISMB and the District 5 City Hall - are on site assessing the situation," the cited source specified.
The Bucharest School Inspectorate added that it remains in constant contact with the school leadership and the involved authorities to ensure the safety and support of students and staff.
ISMB confirmed that school activities will resume only after the building's safety is verified and all technical inspections are completed.
