The Superior Council of Magistracy announced on Monday the launch of the procedure for appointing a new head of the High Court of Cassation and Justice.
According to the announcement published on the institution's website, candidacies for the position of President of the Supreme Court are submitted to the Judges' Section of the Superior Council of Magistracy, by June 16 inclusive, according to the approved estimated calendar.
On June 17, the list of candidates registered in the procedure for occupying a management position and the projects regarding the exercise of specific duties of the management position will be published, and starting with June 23, the Section for Judges may order the analysis of the candidacies and the approval of the interview for the registered candidates.
"Judges who run for office are required to make, on their own responsibility, a declaration stating that they have not been part of the intelligence services nor have they collaborated with them, and a declaration stating that they do not have a personal interest that influences or could influence the objective and impartial performance of the duties provided for by law," the document reads.
The mandate of the current President of the Supreme Court, Corina Corbu, ends in mid-September.
