The Telecommunications Free Trade Union SL-TC denounces the refusal of Orange Romania to increase the value of meal vouchers for employees starting October 1, 2024, following requests submitted to the company's management, informs a press release sent to AGERPRES.
"Although Orange Romania SA has recorded earnings of more than 6 billion RON (1.5 billion EUR), according to the published financial data, the meal vouchers have remained at the value of 25 RON (20 RON after taxes) from 2022. "According to Law no. 165/2018 on the granting of vouchers, employers are required to respect the updated value of meal vouchers, set by Order of the Ministry of Finance at 40.04 RON/working day, a value in force from October 1, 2024. This situation underlines a worrying reality: precarious work for colossal incomes, earned with the help of employees paid below decent standards," reads the press release states.
According to the cited source, the solid fiber optic network and the more than 9.5 million customers that Orange Romania SA manages are the result of the efforts and hard work of SL-TC employees, who, unfortunately, are inadequately rewarded.
SL-TC Representatives consider that this lack of fairness is "unacceptable, especially today, October 7, 2024, when the World Day for Decent Work is celebrated internationally".
The Telecommunications Free Trade Union SL-TC is affiliated to the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) and UNI Global Union.
