Romanian tennis player Ana Bogdan on Tuesday qualified for the round of 16 of the WTA 250 tournament in Osaka (Japan), endowed with total prize money worth 267,080 dollars, after defeating Russian Veronika Kudermetova, 6-2, 6-2, informs Agerpres.
Ana Bogdan (31, WTA's 111th), a qualifier, needed just an hour and 17 minutes of play to win.
The Romanian now leads Kudermetova (27, WTA's 63rd) 4-1.
Ana Bogdan has secured a check for 4,040 dollars and 48 WTA points and will face Czech Marie Bouzkova (26, WTA's 43rd) in the round of 16.
Ana Bogdan is 2-0 in direct matches after winning 6-4, 6-2 in 2018 in the first round at the US Open and 6-3, 6-1 in 2019 in the final qualifying round at Wimbledon.
Romania will also be represented on the main doubles draw by Monica Niculescu, who is paired with Cristina Bucsa (Spain). In the first round, the number four seeded pairing will face Timea Babos (Hungary)/Harriet Dart(UK).
