Romanian tennis player Andreea Mitu qualified, on Thursday, in the quarterfinals of the singles event and in the semifinals of the doubles at the ITF tournament in Oeiras (Portugal), with total prizes of 80,000 dollars.
Mitu (30 years old, the 733rd in the WTA), coming from singles' qualifiers, defeated the Frenchwoman Leolia Jeanjean (26 years old, the 278th in the WTA) 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8), winning in two hours and 45 minutes.
The next opponent of the Romanian will be the Belarusian Iulia Gotovka (21 years old, the 225th in the WTA), who managed to defeat on Thursday the main seed, the Russian Varvara Graceva (21 years old, the 74th in the WTA), 5-7, 6-2, 6- 3.
In the doubles, Andreea Mitu and Oksana Kalashnikova (Georgia) managed to reach the semifinals on Thursday, after 7-5, 6-3 with the Spanish pair Celia Cervino Ruiz / Olga Parres Azcoitia. In the penultimate act, the second seeds will face the couple Katharina Gerlach (Germany) / Natalija Stevanovic (Serbia), Agerpres informs.
