Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu and Mexican player Renata Zarazua qualified on Thursday for the semifinals of the double event within the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Tournament, which is held in Waco (Texas), with prizes worth 50,000 US Dollars, after defeating American pair Ellie Halbauer/Jessica Wacnik, with a score of 4-6, 6-0, 13-11.
In the semifinal, the 4th seeds will face another US couple, Sophie Chiang/Chiara Scholl respectively.
In the singles event, Mihaela Buzarnescu (aged 28, ranked 377th in the WTA), who came from qualifications was surpassed by the main seed, American player Samantha Crawford (aged 21, WTA's 105th), with a score of 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the round of sixteen.
