The Romanian-Spanish pair Victor Cornea/Bruno Pujol Navarro qualified on Thursday for the semifinals of the doubles event of the challenger tennis tournament in Olbia (Italy), with total prize money of 181,250 euros, after winning 7-5, 6-2 against the pair Anirudh Chandrasekar (India)/Reese Stalder (USA).
Cornea and the Spaniard won after one hour and 21 minutes against the number two favorites.
In the first set, Chandrasekar and Stalder led 3-0, but were tied, and the Romanian-Spanish pair won 7-5. In the second set, the Indian-American couple won the first game, but then Cornea and his partner dominated the match.
Cornea and Bruno Pujol Navarro secured a cheque for 3,140 euros and 45 ATP points in doubles, and in the penultimate act they will face Poland's Szymon Kielan/Filip Pieczonka.
