Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, WTA'S 5th and 4th seed, qualified for the WTA's round of sixteen held in Beijing, with prizes worth 5,424,394 USD, after defeating on a Tuesday match Belgian player Yanina Wickmayer (WTA'S 56th) in two sets, 6-2, 6-2.
Simona Halep needed only 59 minutes to defeat Wickmayer and secured, for the round of sixteen qualification, a cheque worth 62,768 USD and 120 WTA points.
In the round of sixteen, Halep will play against the winner of the match between American Alison Riske WTA'S 60, newly come from qualifications and Chinese Shuai Zhang, ranked 36 in the WTA ranking.
In the round of sixteen of the Beijing's tournament Czech player Petra Kvitova, WTA's 14 and winner by 6-4,6-1, against Chinese Yafan Wang qualified and also French player Alise Cornet, who defeated in three sets 6-2, 5-7, 6-2, Slovak player Dominica Cibulkova (10th seed).
