The film "The Yellow Tie", directed by Serge Ioan Celebidachi, will have its premiere in the United States on February 6, at the Riviera Theater, during the 41st edition of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF).
According to a press release sent to AGERPRES, additional screenings of the film are scheduled for February 7 and 9, in the Film Center 2 hall.
"It is a special honor to bring 'The Yellow Tie' to SBIFF, on the occasion of its premiere in the United States. There is no more appropriate place than Santa Barbara for what we hope will be the beginning of a beautiful and lasting dialogue with the American audience," said director Serge Ioan Celebidachi, quoted in the press release.
Inspired by the fate of the legendary conductor Sergiu Celibidache, the film 'The Yellow Tie' presents the extraordinary story of a child with a dream, who conquered the world. It is the journey of a man who refused any compromise, from his childhood under an authoritarian father in interwar Romania, to the years of famine and the fight for survival in war-torn Germany. A film about the courage to believe in what seems impossible and about the price paid to remain steadfast in a world of compromise. About love, truth, integrity and sacrifice. About success that means nothing without the acceptance and recognition of loved ones. And about the longing for home, which always accompanied him, wherever he was, is shown in the film's synopsis.
The cast brings together important names of international cinema, including John Malkovich and Miranda Richardson, both double Oscar nominees, Ben Schnetzer and Kate Phillips. Sean Bean, winner of two BAFTA awards, Anton Lesser and Charlie Rowe (Rocketman) complete the cast.
The film is directed by Serge Ioan Celebidachi, the conductor's son, who also co-wrote the screenplay with James Olivier. The creative team includes important names from the international film industry: cinematographer Peter Menzies, Jr. ACS, costume designer Alessandro Lai, makeup, hair and prosthetics designer Lynda Armstrong and set designer Vlad Vieru. The original music is composed by Kathryn Kluge and Kim Allen Kluge.
