The Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) and the Federation of Romanian Tourism Employers (FPTR) have agreed to collaborate to ensure the opening of the 2026 summer season under optimal conditions, starting with May 1, the employers' side announced on Friday.
"After more than 15 years, the central authority for tourism, through Irineu Darău, Minister of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism, is directly and actively involved in the preparation and opening of the summer season on May 1. Following the applied and constructive discussions held between the MEDAT management and the executive management of FPTR, it was agreed to initiate and conclude a collaboration protocol to ensure the opening of the 2026 summer season in optimal conditions, starting with May 1", specifies the source quoted in a statement sent to AGERPRES. .
MEDAT and FPTR decided that 2026 would be established as the "Year of Quality in Tourism", with the objective of promoting excellence in services and increasing tourist confidence in Romanian destinations.
The parties also committed to ensuring that the 2026 summer season is characterized by the best quality-price ratio, through real and constant collaboration between the private sector and the competent public authorities.
At the same time, it was also decided to improve the quality of tourist services on the coast, so that the rates charged in the 2026 summer season correctly reflect the quality-price ratio.
"For the first time in the last 15 years, the relevant ministry has decided to get directly, concretely and early involved in ensuring all the necessary conditions for the summer season to open simultaneously in all resorts on the Romanian coast, with the support of local authorities, control institutions and economic operators," notes FPTR.
The ministry and the employers' federation will have a first working meeting on Wednesday at the Constanta Prefecture, where the leaderships of employers' organizations, OMDs, tourism associative structures, as well as economic operators, members and non-members of FPTR, were invited.
