Tourism minister Mircea Titus Dobre communicated on Tuesday while in Poiana Brasov resort that holiday tickets will be granted in the first quarter of next year, 842 million lei being the amount approved for these vouchers in the 2018 budget.

"Holiday tickets will be given next year. They are provided for in the 2018 budget. It has been so discussed that all public central institutions will grant them next year, as the 842 million lei amount was foreseen in the budget. The value of the indemnity or the holiday premium amounts to 1,450 lei and is given in the form of holiday tickets. These are granted by every public institution whose budget provides for the necessary amount. Tickets are purchased, on paper or electronically, for the acquisition of the tourist service package only in Romania," the Tourism Minister underscored.

He added that vouchers are nominal.

"Nobody can buy them, nor are they allowed to. Whoever does that will have their classification certificates withdrawn in the case of accommodation units and in the case of traveling agencies, they will have their operating licenses revoked," Dobre pointed out.

"The increase is rather substantial because it has to do with amounts paid and cashed-in. We also have an 11 precent higher flow as compared to last year's similar period. We have data showing that the tourism activity in Romania is going up from one year to the next and this is due mostly to service operators that provide an increasingly better quality of services," Minister Mircea Titus Dobre concluded.
