The business resulting from wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 1.8%, as a gross series, in the first half of this year, compared to the similar interval in 2023, according to the data published by National Institute of Statistics (INS), on Wednesday.
In the margin of this result, turnover increases were reported in: trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+14.2%), trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+8.5%) and trade in motor vehicles (+2.2%). On the other hand, motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities decreased by 17.2%, as a gross series.
According to the quoted source, in the period from January 1 to June 30, 2024, the volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as an adjusted series, depending on the number of working days and seasons, increased with 2.1% compared to the first six months of the previous year.
Compared to June 2023, in June 2024, the total number of businesses in the wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 3.5%, as a gross series, respectively by 0.4% as an adjusted series.
In this context, decreases were recorded in the activities of maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (-17.1%) and in the trade of motor vehicles (-3.6%). On the other hand, there were increases in trade with motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+7.2%) and trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+1.8%).
The INS data also show that in June, the current year, compared to May 2024, the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, increased by 2% both as a gross series and as adjusted series.
