Turnover in the trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles saw an increase by 3.8%, in the first ten months of this year, as gross series, and also an increase by 3.6% as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, compared to the similar period in 2024, according to data published on Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
According to the official statistics, during the period January 1 - October 31, 2025, as a gross series, increases were reported in: motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+18.0%), trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+10.1%), trade in motor vehicles (+2.6%) and trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+1.4%).
In October 2025, turnover in the trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, compared to September 2025, 7.5%, as gross series, and by 0.1%, respectively, as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality.
Compared to October 2024, turnover in the trade of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 1.3%, in October 2025, as gross series, and by 0.8% as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality.
The total turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, saw an increase of 7.5%, as gross series, in October 2025, compared to the previous month, due to increases recorded in trade in motor vehicles (+9.3%), trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+5.6%) and in maintenance and repair activities of motor vehicles (+3.3%).
Trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles decreased by 5.4%.
The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 0.1%, as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in October 2025, compared to the previous month.
The total turnover volume in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, decreased by 1.3%, as gross series, in October 2025, compared to October 2024, recorded a decrease of 1.3%, as a result of the decreases recorded in trade in parts and accessories for motor vehicles (-2.9%), trade in motorcycles, related parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (-2.0%) and trade in motor vehicles (-1.7%).
Motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities increased by 7.1%.
The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles decreased by 0.8%, as series adjusted depending on the number of business days and seasonality, in October 2025, compared to October 2024.
