The turnover of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles increased in the first seven months of 2018 compared to the similar period of 2017 by 9.5pct in unadjusted terms. Also on the rise was the turnover of services provided to the population, which advanced in unadjusted terms by 5.2pct, according to the data made public on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics.
In the first seven months of 2018 compared to the same period of 2017, the turnover in the wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted terms, increased due to the rise in the trade in motorcycles, parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+26.5pct), trade in motor vehicles (+18.3pct) and activities related to the trade in motor vehicle parts and accessories (+3.3pct). Vehicle maintenance and repair recorded decreases (-10.4pct).
In terms adjusted to number of working days and seasonality, turnovers increased by 10.6pct.
The market services activity for the population, in unadjusted terms, registered a turnover by 5.2pct higher, due to the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (+6.5pct), activities of hotels and restaurants (+5.1pct), gambling and other recreational activities (+4.5pct), hairdressing and other related activities (+ 4.1pct) and washing and dry-cleaning activities of textile and fur products (+1.5pct).
The market services activity for the population in terms adjusted to the number of working days and seasonality, registered a turnover by 4.8pct higher.
