Chairman of the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), Deputy Prime minister Hunor Kelemen will participate on Wednesday in Casin Pass and in Miercurea-Ciuc in events dedicated to March 15, the Day of Hungarians Everywhere.
According to information posted on the UDMR website, Hunor Kelemen will be at the monument in Casin Pass, where every year events are organised to commemorate the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849.
From 17.00, the UDMR leader will lay wreaths at the statue of Sándor Gál in Miercurea-Ciuc, and from 18.00 he will take part in the main event of the day in the town's Citadel Square.
As every year, the evening event, organised by Miercurea-Ciuc City Hall, will include festive speeches, artistic moments and the laying of wreaths at the statues of the revolutionaries Petofi Sandor and Nicolae Balcescu.
Miercurea-Ciuc City Hall announced that the series of celebrations dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848-1849 will begin on Tuesday afternoon with a presentation titled "Gál Sándor and the 1848 Szeklers", which will take place in the festivity hall, followed by a concert at the town's cinema.
On Wednesday there will be the usual commemorative event at the Petőfi Sándor Secondary School and a workshop at a local café.
The Mikó Fortress in the town will be illuminated in the red, white and green colours of the Hungarian flag.
Events dedicated to the Day of Hungarians Everywhere are also organised in other towns in the county, with the participation of leaders of the Hungarian community.
