President Nicusor Dan announced on Tuesday, after participating in Kyiv in the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, that Romania will continue to provide Ukraine all the necessary support.

"On the fourth anniversary of Russia launching an illegal and unjustified war against Ukraine, I took part, together with other European leaders who share the same values, in a new meeting of the Coalition of the Willing. Romania will continue to provide all the support Ukraine needs to defend itself and to negotiate peace from a position of strength. Ukraine is fighting with dignity and courage to defend us all, and for this we are grateful. Such a long period of war makes the resilience of the Ukrainian people all the more admirable," the president wrote on X, agerpres reports.

He mentioned that the Cotroceni Palace would be illuminated on Tuesday in the colors of the Ukrainian flag, as a tribute to all Ukrainians who lost their lives in these four years of brutal war.

"We stand with you in order to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, and to establish security guarantees that will prevent the possibility of any new aggression from Russia. This remains essential for us, since the security of Romania and of the entire continent is closely linked to that of Ukraine," Nicusor Dan added.

The Coalition of Willing, which brings together Ukraine's allies, wants the negotiations conducted under the auspices of the United States to involve "all parties concerned when their interests are at stake"; this is a key message underlined by French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, co-chairs of Tuesday's coalition meeting held by teleconference, EFE reports.

In a joint statement, Macron and Starmer said that the leaders of the 30 countries supporting Kyiv reiterated their "unwavering commitment to achieving a just and lasting peace, in accordance with the principles and the Charter of the United Nations".

In this regard, they reaffirm that "international borders must not be changed by force" and, while they commend the United States for the efforts made in the peace negotiations, they insist that "all parties concerned must be involved when their interests are at stake".
