In a message issued on Sunday, on Ukraine's Independence Day, President Nicusor Dan reiterates Romania's support for "Ukraine's legitimate effort to defend itself", assuring of Romania's determination to support the neighboring state's reconstruction efforts and its path towards European integration, Agerpres reports.
"I convey to the Ukrainian citizens my warmest congratulations and my sincere wishes for peace and security. In the face of Russia's continued aggression against your country, I would like to reiterate Romania's support for Ukraine's legitimate effort to defend itself. We will also support Ukraine's reconstruction efforts and your path towards European integration," the Romanian president said.
He emphasized the Ukrainians' resolve in defending their country, "a powerful example of the struggle for freedom and democracy against an autocratic enemy."
"We admire the courage and resilience shown by both the Ukrainian armed forces and the civilian population in defending the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country. Your determination serves as a powerful example of the struggle for freedom and democracy against an autocratic enemy. On this special day, I wish our Ukrainian friends renewed strength and unwavering hope for a better future," Nicusor Dan concluded.
