AGERPRES special correspondent Cristian Lupascu reports: Ukraine plans to open a total of 11 border crossing points with Romania to facilitate exports, State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development head Serhiy Suhomlyn told AGERPRES.
According to him, the next link to be opened between the two countries will be the Fantana Alba crossing.
"Our agency is subordinated to the Government and is part of the Ministry of Regional Development. For us, a major priority this year and next is the export potential of Ukraine, through the opening of new crossing points on the border with Romania. We have opened and plan to open 11 crossing points. The projects at Biserica Alba (Bila Tserkva - editor's note) in the Transcarpathian region, which we will open next year, provide that the Romanian side will build the bridge and access roads. This is a great help for exporters, for our country, to increase export opportunities. Romania is a serious partner, not only through infrastructure reconstruction but also through military aid," said Serhiy Suhomlyn, Agerpres informs.
In the Transcarpathian region, the Diacovo - Halmau and Solotvino - Sighetu Marmatiei border crossing points are currently operational, and in the near future, Bila Tserkva - Sighetu Marmatiei, Hija - Tarna Mare, and Iablunivka - Remeti are expected to be added.
In the Chernivtsi region, the Krasnoilsk - Vicovu de Sus, Porubne - Siret, and Diakivtsi - Racovat border crossing points are open, and projects are underway for the Sepit - Izvoarele Sucevei, Ruska - Ulma, and Fantana Alba - Climauti crossing points.
Regarding those in project phase, agreements have already been signed for Bila Tserkva - Sighetu Marmatiei, Sepit - Izvoarele Sucevei, and Ruska - Ulma, while no agreements have yet been signed for the other three: Fantana Alba - Climauti, Hija - Tarna Mare, and Iablunivka - Remeti.
