The Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB) achieved the best academic performance in Romania, according to some of the most famous academic ranking systems in the world - the University Ranking by Academic performance (URAP), informs a press release of this education institution.
The university has been ranked world's 709th, showing a slight variation in comparison with the previous years' rankings, while it is ranked 306th in Europe.
"The share of the indicators considered in making the ranking were: the number of scholarly articles published (21pct), the total number of scientific documents published (10pct), the number of quotations (21pct), the total impact of the scientific articles (18pct), the total impact of quotations (15pct), scientific articles published based on international partnerships (15pct), reads the press release.
UPB says that in making the ranking URAP considered both the scientific results of the university and its international collaborations.
"The URAP ranking" is based on such international databases (Web of Science, Scopus and Google Scholar) that monitor academic performance of universities. The URAP chart is based on both quantitative indicators (scientific productivity reflected in the number of articles published and the impact of scientific researches through the number of quotations) and also qualitative indicators that show the impact of the scientific researches in the international community, as well as the international scientific collaborations reflected in the scientific articles published in collaboration with authors from abroad. The ranking also included 17 of the most important universities in Romania," says the same source.
