USR's Drula: I want to build for 2024 a movement to give Romania the solution it is looking for
The president of Save Romania Union (USR), Catalin Drulu, declared on Saturday that the party he represents will offer, together with the People's Movement Party, a real solution for Romania in the 2024 elections, through the "third way", that of the forces of the right, told Agerpres.
"We are making this construction together with you. We thought of a partnership between two different parties, there are also things that are different, this is normal, but it unites us for a greater purpose. I want to build for 2024 this movement that will give Romania a solution it is looking for. Because at the moment people look and say 'ok, we don't like it'. I don't know how many Romanians have remained fans of the National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Social Democratic Party (PSD)," said Drula at the summer school of the youth organization of the People's Movement Party (PMP).
The president of the USR, who believes that the confidence of the Romanians in politics must be restored, accused the president Klaus Iohannis that, by bringing the PSD to the government, he destroyed the people's trust in politics, in the democratic process, in the conditions in which "the people voted to no more PSD in government".
"The real solution is us, this construction that we are doing together for the year 2024, to offer Romanians an alternative and restore their confidence in politics. Because it is very important to understand that the solution is all in politics. Demonizing politics or giving it up means that we are losing democracy. This is the great evil that Iohannis did and these people did in these years," said Drula.
The president of USR stated that the current PSD-PNL government has brought the Romanian economy "to the brink of disaster", adding that an increase in taxes for those who work and produce added value is not a viable solution.
"Those who say that the state's expenses are rigid and that we have nothing to do and that we all have to contribute more through taxes, that is a lie. Money is being lost everywhere. It is a colossal inefficiency in the Romanian state and total theft," added the USR leader.
Catalin Drula criticized what he called the "extremism" of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR).
"On the other side, it is simply extremism, as Mr. President (Eugen Tomac, PMP's chairman, ed.n.) said, directed from Moscow, a party leader who is banned from entering Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, who is rumored to have met with GRU agents, or wherever they would have been from, Putin's, to be very clear", claimed Drula.
