USR's MP Claudiu Nasui sues Presidential Administration

Claudiu Nasui, Save Romania Union (USR) deputy, announced that he sued the Presidential Administration for "refusing" to provide public information about the movements of the presidents between 2010 and 2023.

According to a USR press release sent on Wednesday to AGERPRES, Claudiu Nasui sent more than 30 days ago, based on Law 544/2001 on access to public information, a request regarding the trips of the presidents of Romania and their costs.

"How many were there? Where were they? How many days? How much did they cost? And with which aircraft did he leave? And if it was a rented aircraft at what cost? Mr. Iohannis does not spend his money. He spends our money. In a democracy these things should be known. There is a minimum of transparency. In the Romanian state, however, not only is this information on the website, but it seems that you cannot obtain it even upon request (as the law says)," wrote Claudiu Nasui, Wednesday, on Facebook.

He specified that the Presidential Administration requested "a longer term to analyze the information".

"That longer term has also passed. That is, 30 days. And they still haven't responded. A classic case for the Romanian state. But I'm used to it. I don't give a damn. As soon as the process ends, I'll keep you informed, like we did with ASF (Financial Supervisory Authority). Yet other people who voluntarily classified the information they wanted to keep away from the eyes of the world," Nasui added.

The USR also submitted a draft law that ensures the transparency of the expenses for the foreign trips of president Klaus Iohannis, but it was rejected in the Senate and is kept in the drawer in the Chamber of Deputies, the party's press release recalls.

"Even today USR requested the debate of the project in the emergency procedure, but the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) rejected the request," the press release states.
