Romania should return in 2027-2028 to a fiscal framework that supports microenterprises, as the implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) draws to a close, said Victor Negrescu, Vice-President of the European Parliament, on Monday.
"Today we are working on a project I strongly believe in that after August 2026, when the National Recovery and Resilience Plan ends, we should move beyond the current negotiations and, why not, aim together to reintroduce, for 2027-2028, a fiscal framework that supports Romania's microenterprises. It is essential to support innovation, entrepreneurship and especially the small companies that represent the real economy of Romania," Victor Negrescu stated at the National Top of Private Companies in Romania, organised by IMM Romania.
He also welcomed the fact that SME Romania is part of the project he has supported namely "the construction of Romania's first AI factory."
"I am glad that SME Romania is part of this project I have supported, to build the first AI factory in Romania. I am also pleased that together we are working to approve in the European Parliament the Omnibus package aimed at simplifying European legislation. I am glad that, together, we have managed to bring onto the European agenda a new programme to support start-ups and, above all, to help them grow at European level. This is an initiative you have championed," Negrescu added.
He went on to stress that, now more than ever, Romania's pro-European political class must show solidarity with SMEs and acknowledge that certain difficult but temporary decisions had to be made.
"This is not my first time attending this event. I remember that last year the hall was full I was sitting somewhere in the third row, among prime ministers, presidents and many ministers. And even if perhaps it is not my place to say it, I believe this absence is regrettable. Because today, more than ever, Romania's pro-European political class must not only show solidarity with you, but also acknowledge that certain difficult decisions had to be made, and at the same time that many of these decisions are temporary. I think this commitment is important, along with presenting a medium- or long-term vision. It is important to speak about the present," he said.
