The 16th edition of the cultural event "It is Carnival Time! Clean Monday - Kathara Deftera," organised by the Hellenic Union of Romania, will take place on Saturday from 11:00 at the "Dimitrie Gusti" National Village Museum.
According to a press release the Village Museum sent to AGERPRES on Tuesday, representatives of other national minorities will also participate in the event: the Bulgarian Union of Banat - Romania, the Community of Russian Lipovans in Romania, the Democratic Union of Turkish-Muslim Tatars of Romania, the Democratic Forum of Germans in Romania and the Association of Italians in Romania Ro.As.It..
Every year, according to tradition, the carnival known as Apokries is revived in Greece and in all Hellenic communities around the world, culminating in "Clean Monday" with day trips, Lenten delicacies and traditional music.
The carnival, promoted by the Hellenic Union of Romania through the project "It is Carnival Time! Clean Monday," takes place in the period before the start of the Easter fast, when entertaining activities and parties are organised with plentiful and appetising food, music and dancing, and above all colourful costumes that fill the streets and public spaces throughout Greece, the quoted source says.
