Touring photography exhibition "We, the People", which celebrates the 25th anniversary of the strategic partnership between the United States of America and Romania, opens today in Brasov, where it can be visited throughout September 3.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest, the exhibition "We the People' is a photographic essay that explores the diplomatic, security, economic, and cultural relations between the Romanian and American people.
This collection of interactions between the two nations illustrates that the strategic partnership between the United States and Romania is accessible to all. It is an exhibition that extensively captures the interactions between the two peoples, since the beginning of the Strategic Partnership in 1997. The 150 photographs included in this exhibition create a personal framework for the strategic partnership, past and present, and offer the opportunity to experience friendship and collaboration between the two nations in a new way, according to the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest.
The event is organised by the U.S. Embassy in Romania in partnership with Romania's Foreign Ministry - Diplomatic Archives Unit and the National News Agency AGERPRES, in collaboration with the University of Craiova.
The exhibition focuses on the theme 'We the People' which is the famous preamble to the U.S. Constitution and the embodiment of the human bonds that form bridges of understanding and co-operation between peoples. Successful bilateral diplomacy and friendship are based on these ties and the common values they encompass. The well-known journalist, correspondent and later American diplomat Edward R. Murrow said, about the essential role of the links between people: 'The real crucial link in international exchange is the last three feet, which is bridged by personal contact, one person talking to another,' according to the embassy.
After the opening of the touring exhibition cultural attache of the U.S. Embassy Peter H. Brown will give a speech.
The opening event will include mounting the exhibition in the open air, followed by the official opening at the Apollonia Cultural Centre. Attending the event will be cultural attaché of the U.S. Embassy Peter H. Brown; Director General of the National News Agency AGERPRES Claudia Nicolae; Director of the Directorate of Cultural Diplomacy, Education and Science with the Romanian Foreign Ministry Andrei Luca; Mayor of Brasov Allen Coliban; Chair of the Brasov County Council Todorica-Constantin Erban.
