Weightlifting: Romania ends European Junior Championships with 16 medals

Romania concluded the European Youth and U15 Weightlifting Championships in Madrid, Spain, with a tally of 16 medals, including five gold, five silver and six bronze.

On Wednesday, Flavia Hreapca, in the women's U15 +69 kg won a silver medal in the snatch for an 89 kg lift, and two bronze medals in the clean and jerk for a 109 kg lift and a medal in total for 198 kg.

In the same category, Cristina Ionia ranked fourth in the snatch (83 kg), clean and jerk (96 kg) and total (179 kg).

Romania lined up 19 weightlifters to the European Youth and U15 Weightlifting Championships in Madrid, 9 in the U17 and 10 in the U15 competitions.

The tally of the Romanian delegation was seven medals in the Under-15 category (3-1-3) and nine medals in the Under-17 category (2-4-3).

Maia Delia Andrei won three gold medals in women's U15 48 kg; Alexia Diana Sipos in the women's U17 53 kg won three silver medals; Adelina Maria Lorint (women's U17 53 kg) won a bronze medal in total. The other medals went to Lucian Florin Cambei in men's U17 56 kg: gold in the snatch and all, bronze in the clean and jerk, while a bronze medal went to Florin Ispilante in the men's U15 56 kg category clean and jerk, and Ionela Bosinceanu won a silver medal in the women's U17 63 kg clean and jerk. Ecaterina Constantina Cismanescu won the bronze in the women's U17 +77 kg snatch.
