The West University of Timisoara (UVT) was the only Romanian higher education institution selected to participate in the launch event for the preparation of the post-2027 programming period, the Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps Stakeholders Conference organized by the European Commission on February 18 in Brussels.
The invitation to contribute to the development of the content of the future Erasmus programme is due to UVT's achievements in implementing the programme components within all the key actions it has participated in so far, but also to the synergies achieved between Erasmus activities and the initiative of European Universities in Romania - RO European Universities, currently under the presidency of UVT Rector Marilen Pirtea.
It was actually the UVT Rector who advanced the initial project that was the foundation for the establishment of the RO European Universities network.
"The UVT has built in recent years a model of European university evolution, through the development and transfer of best practices in the field. The UVT has significantly contributed to increasing the institutional capacity of the entire education system in Romania in relation to the opportunities offered by the Erasmus programme and by initiating and coordinating RO European Universities, the network of Romanian higher education institutions affiliated to European alliances, which works as a unique partner at national level in the dialogue with central institutions on topics regarding public relevant policies and on which the National Erasmus Agency has been open to cooperation from the very beginning. We will get involved and participate at European level to consolidate the good experiences within the future post-2027 Erasmus programme too, a programme of a united and educated Europe," Rector Marilen Pirtea said in a statement on Friday.
The event organized in Brussels by the European Commission is part of the first, collaborative creation phase of the programme that will unfold as of 2027 and was focused on inviting experts who can significantly contribute to its content.
The way in which the UVT approached the integration process with the UNITA European alliance, through synergies with all components of the Erasmus programme, but also the role it took up at national level to coordinate efforts for the transfer of best practices from European alliance member universities to the entire system have also yielded results in increasing institutional and systemic capacity. The West University of Timisoara remains firmly committed to promoting the idea of integrating an international experience into the academic and professional course of the students, precisely in order to increase their chances of integration into a multicultural, increasingly globalized labor market, the release concludes.
