Yellow warning for wind in mountain area in 11 counties, until January 9

The National Administration of Meteorology (ANM) issued on Tuesday a Yellow weather warning for wind valid until Thursday evening (January 9) in the Apuseni Mountains and in the north and center of the Eastern Carpathians.



According to the meteorologists, between January 7, 20:00 - January 9, 20:00, at altitudes generally above 1,700 meters, in the Apuseni Mountains, but also in the north and central Eastern Carpathians, there will be periods with gusts of 90 - 120 km/h.

The counties where the Yellow warning is in force are: Hunedoara (northern half), Alba (western half), Cluj (south-west), Bihor (south and east), Arad (south), Maramures (west, south and east), Bistrita-Nasaud (eastern half), Mures (north-east), Suceava (western half), Neamt (western half), Harghita.

On Tuesday morning, the ANM also issued a weather warning for wind and moderate rainfall, targeting mountain areas, but also the lowlands of Banat and Crisana.

According to forecasters, between January 7, 10:00 - January 10, 10:00, locally and temporarily, the wind will pick up in the mountains, with gusts of 50 - 80 km/h, as well as in the lowlands of Banat and Crisana, where gusts will generally reach between 40 - 50 km/h.

In the night from Tuesday to Wednesday (January 7/8) in the Apuseni Mountains and in the north of the Eastern Carpathians there will be moderate precipitation (10 - 15 l/mp), predominantly in the form of rain, which will favor the melting of the snow.
