A 29-year-old man from Harsova, wanted by the judicial authorities in Germany, was spotted by the police at the Constanta-based Mihail Kogalniceanu airport, while attempting to board a flight to another European country, the Constanta County Police Inspectorate (IPJ) reported on Monday.

An arrest warrant had been issued against the man by the German authorities for the crimes of forming an organised crime group and aggravated theft.

According to the same source, the police officers from the Mihail Kogalniceanu Police Department Air Service, with the support of the border police, identified, in the departure terminal, a 29-year-old man from Harsova, who intended to board a flight to another European country.

"After verifications, the police established that the man in question is listed with a European arrest warrant, issued by the judicial authorities in Germany, for committing the crimes of forming an organised crime group and aggravated theft," the County Police Inspectorate said in a statement.

The young man was taken over by the police of the Territorial Unit for Searching for Missing or Fugitive Persons, being escorted and presented to the prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Court of Appeal of Constanta, who ordered his detention for 24 hours. He is expected to be presented to the magistrates today with a proposal for arrest for extradition.
