The National Institute of Public Health (INSP) informs on Thursday that during the week of December 27 - January 2, nationwide, the total number of acute respiratory infections (clinical flu, infections of the respiratory system and pneumonias) was 37,877, which is 1.3% higher when comparing with the one registered during the same week of the previous season (27,633) and 1.2% less than the previous week (38,332).
There were 100 cases of clinical flu reported nationwide, when comparing with 17 cases registered during the similar week of 2020.
During the same period, there were two cases of flu confirmed by the lab, with the AH3 type flu virus - one in the county of Ilfov and one in Bucharest.
Furthermore, two cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections (SARI) were registered.
Since the start of the season there were six flu cases confirmed by the lab; one with the type B flu virus in Bucharest and five with the AH3 type flu virus, three in the county of Vrancea and one each in the county of Ilfov and Bucharest.
No casualties confirmed with the flu virus were communicated, INSP specifies.
Until January 2 there were 1,173,293 people vaccinated against the flu with the serum distributed by the Ministry of Health for at risk groups.
