The Presidential Administration will host, on Tuesday, a new edition of the project called "Romania in the Spotlight" ("Romania in Lumina") which focuses on "Addictions among children and adolescents."

According to a Presidential Administration release sent to AGERPRES, the event will take the form of a roundtable attended by experts in the area of addictions, doctors, representatives of public authorities and relevant non-governmental organisations.

"Through this initiative, the Presidential Administration aims to identify long-term solutions and implement programmes dedicated to preventing addictions among children and young people in Romania," the quoted source said.

The event is being organised with the involvement of Mirabela Gradinariu, life partner of President Nicusor Dan, in partnership with the Zi de Bine Association, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism.

"The issue of addictions is increasingly relevant, both in Romania and across Europe, as the phenomenon affects a growing number of children and adolescents, and threatens the harmonious development of the younger generation and the health of society. In this context, early prevention becomes essential, being the most effective way to reduce the risks associated with substance use, digital addiction and other forms of behavioural addiction, through education, awareness and coordinated intervention," the release informed.

The event will be attended by doctors, teachers, addiction specialists, MPs from relevant parliamentary committees, as well as by representatives of specialised non-governmental organisations.
