Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Florin Barbu is participating from 8-9 September in the Informal Meeting of Agriculture Ministers in Copenhagen, according to the relevant ministry.

'Ahead of the Ministerial Forum on 9 September, ministers and European commissioners will carry out a series of field visits designed to showcase examples of good practice, innovative solutions and green initiatives that can contribute to strengthening the resilience and sustainability of the European agri-food sector. The meeting is hosted by Jacob Jensen, the Danish Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, and will bring together agriculture ministers from EU Member States, European Commissioners responsible for agriculture and food safety, health and animal welfare, as well as representatives of the European Parliament, the Special Committee on Agriculture and key European sector organisations. The central theme of the discussions focuses on enhancing competitiveness and accelerating the green transition in the agri-food sector, through the promotion of simplification, investment and the use of new technologies, including bio-based solutions,' reads a press release from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR).

The debates will focus on two fundamental questions: How can the European Union stimulate innovation and investment in the agri-food sector to meet the needs of a growing population, while also respecting sustainability goals and ensuring access to safe and affordable food for all?; What adjustments to the European legislative framework are needed to facilitate farmers' access to the essential tools for the green transition?.

The programme of the meeting in Denmark includes: on 8 September - working visits to innovative sites such as Novonesis (Kalundborg), Aggersvold Estate (Jyderup) and Sogaard Farm (Roskilde), where bio-based technologies and solutions for the competitiveness of European farmers will be showcased; on 9 September - the ministerial session at the Copenhagen Forum, followed by a joint press conference held by Jacob Jensen, the Danish minister, and Christophe Hansen, the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food.

'Romania will advocate for policies tailored to the diversity and specific characteristics of each member state, so that farmers receive concrete support for modernisation, digitalisation and sustainable development,' the ministry further shows.

The Copenhagen meeting also provides an opportunity to strengthen the dialogue between member states and European institutions, in order to identify balanced solutions to the current challenges facing the agricultural sector.
