Airbus Helicopters Romania completed the delivery of the second retrofitted H215 helicopter to the Finnish Border Guard (FBG) with a handover ceremony at the aircraft maker's headquarters in Ghimbav, a company release informs on Monday.
Under an agreement between Airbus Helicopters and FBG for the modernization of three Super Puma helicopters, Airbus Helicopters Romania performed the G-Check and retrofit works to AS332L1e (H215) for two AS332L1 Super Puma helicopters, while the works on the first aircraft were performed at the Airbus Helicopters facilities in Marignane.
According to the cited source, the freshly upgraded helicopters will be assigned to multi-purpose missions, including border surveillance and search and rescue operations.

This aircraft is reliable, fast and has outstanding capabilities in all weather conditions: extensive power reserve and high maneuverability.
The powerful MAKILA 1A1 engines give it the ability to fly almost any mission, ensuring maximum operational safety, even in the most difficult situations (discretion, low vulnerability, crash survivability and icing conditions). The H215 is very suitable for public service missions such as law enforcement and firefighting, as well as aerial work and utility missions, not to mention passenger transport. Since its introduction in 2014, 108 operators have used the H215 in their missions, the statement said.
Airbus is present in Romania with all its three divisions: Airbus Helicopters Romania (2002), Premium Aerotec (2009) - both located in Brasov - and Airbus Defense and Space (2005) - in Bucharest.
