National leader of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said on Wednesday that there are some deficiencies in the judiciary attributable to Parliament, but some of them are attributable to the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM).
"Slippages surely exist attributable to Parliament, and we have tried to amend justice legislation to correct certain things. I do not believe that the solutions we have adopted under Laws 303, 304 and 317 are a solution that will solve the problems. Some of the problems we see in the public space fall under the jurisdiction of the Supreme Council of Magistrates (CSM). I can see that there is some concern at the moment with the CSM, and we look forward to seeing the measures to be taken. Many of them do not depend on, as the Supreme Council through the Judiciary Inspectorate should have acted long ago, because the signals that appeared in the public space are older. What we can see now is just the seriousness of the problem bursting up, but I do not imagine that these things were not known by the CSM," Tariceanu said after a meeting of the ALDE Executive Political Bureau.
He reiterated the allegation that governance would be performed by fabricating criminal files.
Asked if the removal of Laura Codruta Kovesi as chief prosecutor of the main anti-graft body is a solution, he said that is in the CSM province. "It is not Parliament to decide," added Tariceanu, who is also chairman of the Senate. AGERPRES
