The management of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Performance of Public Enterprises (AMEPIP) submitted its resignation, and the selection for a new managerial team of the institution will be organized.

According to a press release sent by the Government, the president of AMEPIP, Mihai Precup, the vice-presidents Ciprian Hojda and Victor Moraru submitted their resignations to the General Secretariat of the Government on Tuesday, and the decisions to release them from office will be published in the Official Gazette.

"The three members of the AMEPIP management took this decision both to maintain the relationship of credibility between the Government of Romania and the European institutions, and to avoid any risk regarding the approval of payment request number 3 from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan to the European Commission", the quoted press release states.

A new selection process will be organized for the election and appointment of a new management.

"The coordinates and mechanism of this selection process are established together with the representatives of the European Commission and approved by the Government through Decision No. 617 of 2023 on the organization and functioning of the Agency for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Performance of Public Enterprises. This normative act was validated by the European Commission, before of adoption, in the context of the permanent consultations that the Government of Romania has with the European partners in the application of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan", states the cited source.

In order to ensure the continuity of the activity and the functionality of AMEPIP, taking into account the legal notice period and in the conditions of the organization of the selection process for a new managerial team, the interim management of the institution will be ensured by Ciprian Hojda, the press release informs.

The Agency for Monitoring and Evaluating the Performance of Public Enterprises functions under the Government and under the coordination of the Prime Minister, through the General Secretariat of the Government.

AMEPIP has the role of developing the state's property policy, which is approved by law, at the proposal of the Government, to coordinate and monitor the implementation of corporate governance actions and policies at the level of public tutelary authorities, respectively to apply sanctions for identified deviations. "Through the operationalization of AMEPIP, Romania has made progress in terms of corporate governance, an area in which the Government has assumed responsibilities both through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan and through the process of joining the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development", according to the release.
