Romanian tennis players Ana Bogdan and Anca Todoni have qualified for the main board of the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane (Australia), with total prizes of 1,520,600 US dollars, after their victories on Saturday in the final round of the preliminary board.
Ana Bogdan (32 years old, no. 114 WTA) defeated the Colombian Emiliana Arango (24 years old, no. 169 WTA) 6-2, 6-4, after an hour and a half of play.
Anca Todoni (20 years old, no. 118 WTA) defeated Slovakian Anna Karolina Schmiedlova (30 years old, no. 110 WTA) 6-2, 6-3, in one hour and 22 minutes.
The Romanians each secured cheques for 10,660 dollars and 26 WTA points.
Anca Todoni will play in the first round against Cristinea Bucsa (26 years old, 103 WTA), a player born in Chisinau, but who represents Spain, Agerpres informs.
Ana Bogdan will face the Russian Ana Potapova (23 years old, no. 35 WTA) in the first round.
