The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has opened new export markets for Romanian animal-based products in Albania and Azerbaijan, the authority announced on Monday.
"ANSVSA announces the opening of new markets for Romanian animal-based food products in Albania and Azerbaijan, the result of sustained institutional cooperation and technical dialogue with the relevant authorities. The new veterinary export certificates have been approved and published in the 'Import-Export' section - https://www.ansvsa.ro/industrie-si-afaceri/import-export - on the ANSVSA website, providing operators with the framework needed to capitalise on commercial opportunities in these two destinations," the press release states.
For Azerbaijan, the portfolio of certificates covers poultry, ovine and caprine meat, beef, pork, and dairy products, consolidating existing operational flows of dairy and meat products with certificates obtained by operators.
In relation to Albania, in addition to exports already carried out for poultry, composite products, and fish products, certificates have been obtained for ovine and caprine meat, as well as mechanically separated poultry meat.
These developments build on initiatives launched in 2024 towards Azerbaijan and on the outcomes of the 8th session of the Azerbaijan-Romania Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Trade, Economic Relations, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, held in early April 2024, when ANSVSA signed two Memoranda of Understanding in the field of food safety, aimed at supporting mutual trade, ensuring safety across the food chain, and facilitating the exchange of information and expertise.
"The opening of new markets and the expansion of the range of Romanian products for export is a priority for ANSVSA. Today's results in Albania and Azerbaijan are the product of a process started last year, through consistent dialogue and concrete agreements, which put the technical expertise of both parties into practice and provide our operators with the predictability needed to invest and export under conditions of maximum food safety," said ANSVSA President Alexandru Bociu in the press release.
ANSVSA emphasises that it will continue to support the Romanian business environment by opening and consolidating foreign markets.
In this context, operators are encouraged to consult the templates and specific conditions in the 'Import-Export' section of the ANSVSA website and to contact the county sanitary-veterinary directorates for operational information and support in starting exports.
