About 76% of the participants in the latest eJobs survey were significantly affected by the price increases in the recent time, with the price increases in utilities, food and fuel having the greatest impact, according to data from an online recruitment platform.

The strongest impact was the increase in utility tariffs, as mentioned by 89.2% of the respondents. The increase in food and beverage prices hit 85.6% of the respondents, and 40.7% felt the most the impact of the price increases in transportation expenses, namely fuel, public transportation, specify the representatives of the recruitment platform.

"Already 72% of those who took part in the survey said they had cut non-essential spending. 36.7% gave up going out, 24.3% decided to buy clothes less often, and 21.4% put their vacation plans on hold for an indefinite period of time. An interesting transition, which appears in 29% of the responses, is related to people changing the brands they usually used with similar ones, but from a lower price category, while 20.3% postponed plans to make an important purchase, such as a house or a car," explained Ana Calugaru, head of communications at eJobs, quoted in the press release.

Only 3.3% say that they have not had to make any adjustments to their lifestyle and consumption behaviour, and 8% have not done anything in this regard so far, but intend to implement some spending cuts.

"Against this background, 65% say that they would be willing to give up the extra-salary benefits they receive in exchange for a higher salary, which would cover inflation," the study authors claim.

According to the research, 30.8% did not receive a higher salary, although they requested it, and 24.1% plan to discuss this with their employer in the coming period.

According to the survey, the economic impact of the last few months has been strong enough for candidates and employees in the market to determine 41.3% of those who took part in the survey to want a new job and to be currently looking for a new job.

The study also shows that even the attitude towards remote work has changed in the new economic context. If until this year candidates wanted to be able to work from home in order to be able to manage their time better, now the main reason why they are looking at remote jobs is that it would help them spend less on transportation, lunch at the office or clothes, the same source mentions.

Moreover, when faced with the possibility of taking a higher salary, even if it meant less free time, 33.8% would accept without a second thought, and 33.9% would accept only if there was a substantial salary difference. 32.4% would refuse, arguing that free time is more important to them, according to the research.

Regarding their economic projections for the next 6-12 months, 73.4% do not believe that the economic situation will improve. Only 17% remain optimistic about a possible improvement.

The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,150 respondents in September.
